The Floyd Musician Recording Series started at the request of several local residents who thought it would be nice to have a recorded sampling of all the local music that Floyd County has to offer.  Now, we feel we've come up with something that is quite a bit more than just a music sampler.  These projects have the feel of "recorded history".

With two of the three projects completed, we've been both pleased and honored to have hosted over 60 Floyd County resident performers along with dozens of their backup musicians from other parts of this state, and others.  We take no credit for these projects, as we opened our doors to any Floyd County citizen who wished to take part.  We didn't try to influence which songs they chose to perform, nor did we try to change their songs into large "productions".  We did try to make the musicians feel at ease so that we might capture their performance as if they were practicing at home or performing on stage.  Our sole purpose was to make it possible for them to share their music with you.

When you listen to these CDs, keep in mind the hours that the artists have spent honing their craft through the years.  When you have time, drop them an email and let them know how much you enjoy what they do.  Anytime you get a chance, do what you can to support live musical performances and venues that offer live music.  In this day of digital downloads, ipods, and file sharing, live music is an endangered species that needs to be protected.
